Privacy is a sensitive topic when it comes to the internet and other electronics that require private or personal information. Looking through someone's private data goes against some of the rules in computing ethics, specifically the one that clearly states: do not snoop around in other peoples computer files. If local or federal law enforcement wants to go through someone's computer files, I think that it is reasonable that they should need evidence that it is necessary. If the FBI or the police have to go through personal files to find information regarding a crime, its very likely that they do not have a lot of evidence to begin with and that is why they are further investigating. If they are investigating a dead woman's husband, they should not be able to just go through his personal files unless his finger print was on the knife, or they have reason to believe it was him through some other kind of substantial evidence.

With the rapid growth of the internet, its no wonder why everything is through email instead of fax, or written on paper. Now we can have our work cut in half by storing everything into one harddrive, and be able to send it out instantly to whomever we want. It has been available for college students to do their work over the internet but now we as highschool students have been given the same oportunity.
Using the internet as a learning tool has given a new meaning to self-education. Over the last years or so I've even seen the internet more than ever used as a teaching tool. Textbooks are limited and we can only take so much information from them, but with the internet everything has an answer. The working class in the United States ranges from a little tired to sick and tired. Some people are able to work a 45 hour workweek every week and have no problem staying focused and energized while others struggle with the idea that they have to do the same. Of course it is up to the individual to decide whether that is something they can do or too much. People think going to college can detour them from these long work hours but at the end of the day it would just be more worth it.
I think Americans do work too hard, no one should come home after a 9-5, just to get a call saying they have to open in the morning, and no one should open in the morning and get asked by their boss to stay to close. I have worked with some people who strive to work everyday all week, but from what I have seen they get burned out really fast. It is almost as if they save a few hundred dollars, just so they can be unemployed for another month. It not only reduces productivity, it also makes it hard to function out of work when you basically live there. There definitely should not be a mandatory number of hours you can work, because some people just really need the money. Nobody wants to work 60 hours, but if you have bills you need to pay and kids to feed its the right thing to do. If minimum wage keeps going up a dollar every year we might be able to live off of it and not have to sleep our whole day off away just to make it through the next week. Some companies allow payed vacations and holidays off payed. Not all businesses run this way, but it would help keep their employees around because in the end when we all get burned out, we will just find another job and start the cycle over again. This day in age the world revolves around social media and it seems like we can live with out it even though one hundred or so years ago we did. The world should feel bigger now that we can communicate with people anywhere we want, but somehow it feels like it's enclosing. We should be using the Internet to socialize but instead it is making most of us more antisocial. Now going outside and playing league softball which is so much fun, apparently doesn't compare to sitting at home and playing "World of Warcraft". Instant messaging is a curse that most of us have. We can go online and have open conversations with our friends or people with met on the Internet, but that will never compare to direct human interaction. Texting is okay when your trying to make plans, the rest of the small talk can happen anytime. The world is getting smaller and smaller almost as fast as the new iPhones come out. It is difficult for me to start a pickup game at the hockey rink when everybody's inside watching Greys Anatomy and texting their grandmas.
With how quickly technology is advancing difficult to tell where we will be twenty years from now. There's a new iPhone every year so we will probably be on 27 by 2026. A lot of people in vision floating cars but I think America needs to learn how to drive first. Mostly everything will be a part of technology. Everyone will be adavncing with the rest of the world from electric toothbrushes to electric cars. Hopefully not all social conversation will be online because that would be a little crazy, but communications I'm sure will change as well. Advanced warfare will also be around during times of war. The military will have achieved so much by then, even all over the world. I'm positive that 20 years from now places like China will be so advanced, America won't even know what to do. We will potentially have so many things to keep us busy and motivivated, whether it's in between shoes that light up when you walk and virtual reality, we will have it all.
In this ever changing world of technology anything is possible. It would not be ever changing if nobody was given any opportunities, but even without money, you can still use given resources to invent things. As of right now I am learning how to make apps, and the only frustrating part is figuring out an app that can help people but also has not been thought of or created before. One idea is the Pill-Popper app my teacher created that helps people track what medicine they are supposed to take at what time. Other apps I could make for people could just be for entertainment purposes like Pokemon Go. Applications are not the only thing you can use to change the world. Building cars, computers, and even cell phones change people's lives drastically and it only starts with one question. How can an individual in society use this to better their own or others lives? The answer to this question is an idea and the process is tedious but rewarding and well worth the time spent, because in the end you either change the world, or open up the door for someone else to walk through.
Technology is not and will never be a bad thing for society but in my opinion, it makes us lazy. Some people are far behind on the new updates the world keeps creating because they are scared of the many downfalls. Not only can we email our work to our teacher or our employer, but we can also watch the walking dead instantly while we're supposed to be studying or doing an order at our job. Of course with most things comes the good and the bad or the need and the want. I need to write this essay, but I also want to check my Facebook. I need to fill out this paperwork, I'll start right after this episode of full house. See what I mean? So if we are willing to accept the harsh temptation of the Internet, it can also make our work more accessible. We can store almost anything online or in our hard drives, and we can take them anywhere. It's a mental state of whether your going to use digital tools to make yourself more productive or less productive, but I guess that depends on whether your favorite show is on or not.
After a just a couple of weeks in my tech help class I have made my own portfolio and I am steadily adding different components. I have my about me page which could be more lengthy. I haven't really started my ILE because I haven't figured out what I am going to do for it and I am detrimentally late. My blogs site is up to date, I think that's the easy part. My favorite so far is the news and reviews, I actually have so decent progress towards that one.
I believe it's easier to answer questions formally asked, it's not as easy when the questions left so open ended. As far as fixing iPads goes I haven't been doing much of that yet, but my portfolio is coming together. Everyday even though it's not a lot, I feel a little more knowledgeable and closer to my goals. My goal is to go to college for computer science and to one day work in the computer science field. |
