Privacy is a sensitive topic when it comes to the internet and other electronics that require private or personal information. Looking through someone's private data goes against some of the rules in computing ethics, specifically the one that clearly states: do not snoop around in other peoples computer files. If local or federal law enforcement wants to go through someone's computer files, I think that it is reasonable that they should need evidence that it is necessary. If the FBI or the police have to go through personal files to find information regarding a crime, its very likely that they do not have a lot of evidence to begin with and that is why they are further investigating. If they are investigating a dead woman's husband, they should not be able to just go through his personal files unless his finger print was on the knife, or they have reason to believe it was him through some other kind of substantial evidence.

With the rapid growth of the internet, its no wonder why everything is through email instead of fax, or written on paper. Now we can have our work cut in half by storing everything into one harddrive, and be able to send it out instantly to whomever we want. It has been available for college students to do their work over the internet but now we as highschool students have been given the same oportunity.
Using the internet as a learning tool has given a new meaning to self-education. Over the last years or so I've even seen the internet more than ever used as a teaching tool. Textbooks are limited and we can only take so much information from them, but with the internet everything has an answer. |
